Community
Thanet and District Reform Synagogue has a longstanding and ongoing commitment to the wider community.
We have close links to local charities and organisations to ensure that TDRS continues its monetary and physical charitable activities. We work not only with local charities but also national and international ones, both Jewish and non-Jewish. Click on the link below for more details.
Education plays a strong part in what we do. This extends out of our membership to the wider community. As a leading figure in Kent's Jewish community, TDRS feels it has a special role in education. From visits to the synagogue by local schools and groups to work with the local media, TDRS ensures that sharing details about Jewish culture and faith has become a big part of what we do. Click on the link below for more details on our community education work.
We have been a leading figure in the local and Kent inter-faith community. TDRS sees this work as an essential part of the community work it does. We have close links with local mosques and churches and we have regular visitors from other faiths at our synagogue. More recently Rabbi Cohen and other members have been involved at inter-faith services at Canterbury Cathedral. Click on the link below for more details on our inter-faith work.
As part of our work with our own members, we take the welfare of our community extremity seriously. Our Chesed program has been essential in ensuring the needs of our members, and in particular our vulnerable members, is met. Click on the link below for more details on our Chesed program.
